So, Saturday 12thMay Jess, Olivia, and Rachael volunteered at the Cambridge District Netball League (CDNL). The annual general meeting (AGM) has been a regular event for Injury Active whereby the team offered sports massage, assessments and injury advice.
Twenty-eight teams participated in the event seeing over 280 players getting involved. Olivia and Jess took the players through a warm-up that they carefully planned during the few months that lead up to the event. This netball-designed 15-minute warm-up consisted of a cardiovascular based start which included jogging, star jumps, butt kicks, and mountain climbers. Stretching and mobility exercises then followed. Those included quadriceps and calf stretches. In addition, sport specific movements were also included. For instance, to mimic the ball throw, players had to complete arm reaches in different directions, while plyometrics and impact exercises finished the routine. If you are interested in finding out more about the warm up we used, then please get in touch.Warm-up out of the way, the players went on to complete mini games lasting for about 13 minutes. When the games were over, the players came into the Injury Active gazebo with a variety of questions, enquiries, and injuries. The team was more than happy to share knowledge, reassure worried players and even, in some cases, treat the injury right away.
In addition to the treatment that the team was able to provide on the day, many were advised on their rehab program.
The event was a total success; not only did we share knowledge and treated passionate athletes, but also raised a huge £700 for the Cambridge Women’s Aid! We’d like to say thank you to everybody who took part in the event, especially to all the people that dedicated their weekend time to selling cakes, organizing raffles and fun games.
And a special thank you to the Injury Active ladies, who worked together as a team without their continuous input and support it would not be possible to provide the most effective treatment.
To all those local to Cambridge, Injury Active are here to provide you the upmost care in the event of an injury to ensure an uninterrupted participation in the sports you love most.
