Improve your recovery. Increase your mobility. Help reduce muscle pain.
Sports massage is a deep tissue treatment that is thought to work by reducing excessive post-exercise muscle tone, increasing muscle range of motion, circulation, and nutrition to damaged tissue, and deactivating symptomatic trigger points. It is specifically tailored to you the individual to help with your training.
As well as improving soft tissue function, massage may identify soft tissue abnormalities, which could lead to injury. We will work with areas we feel need improving on to maximise your recovery.
Reduce muscle pain.
Sports massage can be used following soft tissue injuries to help improve the quality of the healing process and reduce the time you spend on the side-line injured. Once scar tissue is laid down following injury, it needs to be constantly loaded and manipulated to improve its flexibility, strength and resilience.
Furthermore, trigger points are defined as an area of muscle tissue that is sensitised (painful to press on) and can be the source of intense pain in the area. During a sports massage we work at identifying these trigger points and work into them to help settle them down. This can be an effective way at decreasing muscular pain.
Improve your performance.
Sports massage techniques can help improve flexibility, decrease DOMS (delayed onset of muscular soreness) and reduce inflammation, getting you ready for your next training session. If you want to help improve your training performance, then a regular sports massage can help keep you on track and performing at your best.
Relaxation.
If you enjoy a deep tissue massage then sports massage is for you. By working deep in the muscles, sports massage will leave you feeling relaxed, reenergised and ready to attack your next training session.
